This chapter is dedicated to Syd Barrett, founding member of the group Pink Floyd. He was simply too sensitive to live in a world he recognized as destructive to humanity and so retreated into his own world, on the Dark Side of the Moon.
The birth of the machine coincided with the physical death of Lincoln. When the veteran of the civil war assigned to guard him instead decided to find a drink on the very night that Booth planned to kill Lincoln, a chain of events was placed into motion that led to the rise and fall of the “permanent” Republican majority. The war profiteers and their Senate cronies tore up Lincoln’s plans for Reconstruction and proceeded to impose a punitive domination of the vanquished South that assured them decades of unchallenged access to power. This was the original sin of the Republican Party, and this dark ambition is the reason that thinking conservatives are now abandoning it in droves, as the consequences of unrestrained corporate domination of the American political process has become apparent.
The civil war has continued to rage ever since, with patriots of both parties defeating counter-Revolutionaries at key moments in history when it seemed as though democracy would be lost forever. On one side of this war are those who have learned the lessons of history and on the other are those who have forgotten, never understood or are deliberately perverting the meaning of history to serve their own selfish interests. This has led to a dumbing down of the American citizenry, aided by a decline in educational funding and deliberate attempts to deny education to the disadvantaged and disenfranchised segments of society from which might arise individuals who would be motivated and strong enough to challenge the machine. They failed to stop the emergence of Barack Obama, so now they have to hold a figurative gun to his head to keep him from becoming the next Theodore or Franklin Roosevelt by betraying the interests of the corporatocracy in order to or restore (or establish, depending on your point of view) democracy in America.
It has been reported that Obama has spoken in a baseball stadium where spectators were not screened by metal detectors, despite the many known threats and attempted plots on his life. I spoke to a Marine veteran who watched him speak at Camp LeJeune, where the armories were unlocked, though the firing ranges had been shut down. I have never met a combat veteran who has lied to me. Trust is simply too important to men and women who depended on virtual strangers to protect their backs in combat. I have no reason to doubt this veteran when he told me that any racist or PTSD-enraged marine could have walked in and checked out a murder weapon that day.
I am disgusted by those civilian liberals who have abandoned our Commander-in Chief in his hour of direst need. Any thinking person can see that he risks his life every day to work with a thoroughly corrupted Congress in the hope that we will remember his admonition that “We must be the change.” His domestic policy will continue to be uninspired while he is forced to work this gang of self-interested power brokers, but he is effectively working for peace. If we can check the elements of the shadow and official governments who are pushing for war with Iran, we can have permanent peace in our lifetimes.
It is a primary mission of Soldiers For Peace International to preserve the life of the president and to keep alive the spark of hope that democracy will once more reign in our nation. We cannot lose this war, for the fate of the world depends on us. It is time to break down the walls between us, recognize our common humanity and interests and seize back our country to ensure that our children live in the democracy our Revolutionary forebears fought and died for.
In the words of Roger Waters:
The lunatic is on the grass.
The lunatic is on the grass.
Remembering games and daisy chains and laughs.
Got to keep the loonies on the path.
The lunatic is in the hall.
The lunatics are in my hall.
The paper holds their folded faces to the floor
And every day the paper boy brings more.
And if the dam breaks open many years too soon
And if there is no room upon the hill
And if your head explodes with dark forebodings too
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.
The lunatic is in my head.
The lunatic is in my head
You raise the blade, you make the change
You re-arrange me 'til I'm sane.
You lock the door
And throw away the key
There's someone in my head but it's not me.
And if the cloud bursts, thunder in your ear
You shout and no one seems to hear.
And if the band you're in starts playing different tunes
I'll see you on the dark side of the moon.
"I can't think of anything to say except...
I think it's marvelous! HaHaHa!"

I just picked up a copy of Jesse Ventura's American Conspiracies. To my delight, he started with a look at the evidence for the Lincoln assassination as involving a conspiracy that included not only industrial war profiteers who benefited from tearing up his Reconstruction plan, but high level figures in government.
ReplyDeleteVentura gives a rational argument that Secretary of War (they were less coy in those days)Stanton may have not come to admire Lincoln as much as most historians have concluded and in fact may have been involved in allowing the Booth plot to go forward and covering it up later.
He concurs with my assessment that the "amazing" circumstances that contributed to the success of the assassination were not by chance but design. Motive and opportunity established, he goes into more detail about how the lot was carried out, facts of which the average American is totally unaware but which illustrate the cunning of fascists in America willing to make a martyr out of an enemy to achieve total support for their fascist agenda.
This may have been the first coup in American history, though some say the bizarre manner of Zachary Taylor's sudden death may indicate that he was poisoned, perhaps because of his stance on containing slavery. This was NOT part of the fascist plan to use slavery to economically subjugate not only Blacks but poor whites.
Ventura's book is a good read. I am looking forward to reading the next section, about the conspiracy to murder Kennedy for challenging the international corporate terrorists who lied us into war in Vietnam.
I don't like to believe it, but a lot of my friends who know more than me about the subject think that Johnson was involved in that. It is of course widely believed that future Nixon Presidential aide G. Gordon Liddy and future President H. W. Bush were on or near the grassy knoll on November 22, 1963.
